Naritasan-Temple belongs to the Chisan Sect of  Shingon Buddhism. The temple is famous for the goma ritual where many votive offerings are dedicated in front of the  Fudo-myo-o and special wooden goma sticks are burnt on the altar. No one other than Shingon priests who have been instructed in the secret rituals can perform this rite. The fire of the goma rite symbolizes the wisdom of Fudo-myo-o, and the wooden goma sticks represent the afflictions of human beings. By burning the goma sticks which have been inscribed with the human afflictions in the fire of Fudo-myo-o’s wisdom, the officiating priest prays with the devotees that their afflictions might be removed.

For a wonderful 2 weeks, I visited my amazing family and friends in Virginia; I had a great time.  In the above slideshow you will find many pictures of my journey.

The journey to leave Turkey and return to Turkey was quite tumultuous, to say the least! However, I am back safely and with positivity for the future.

In the slides above you will find pictures of the airports I had to stop in in order to get back home (Frankurt, Sivas, Ataturk, Dulles, Norfolk INT’l and Sabiha Gökçen), roads of the bus trips I had to take to get to and from the airports, my family and other precious things that I thought you might enjoy seeing.

~Until Next Time.

Merry Christmas!

Today my beautiful, sweet friend Elif invited me over for some Christmas dinner.  We had dolmas, bread, pickles and yogurt.  And to drink, she prepared some Turkish tea.  Everything was wonderful and the company warmed my heart on such a day so far away from my family.

God bless you, Elif.

Bidet at the Hamad International Airport

So, I have started my Christmas Holiday trip and I am so excited!  I left Jakarta at midnight and I am now waiting for my connecting flight to D.C. in Qatar.  I thought that after I left Indonesia I wouldn’t see my beloved bidet for the 2 weeks in which I will be gone but to my surprise, the Hamad International airport comes equipped with the bidet and it’s even better than the one in Jakarta because it has warm water.

How luxurious!  😉

Come on, USA! Please install a bidet for every toilet in every bathroom! There are only benefits to this treasure!  😀
